Current and former owners of 2015-18 Murano and 2016-18 Maxima vehicles: your legal rights are about to be decided for you unless you take action.
You contacted us about your concerns about the CVT transmission in your vehicle and the costs you, the consumer, faced. Even if it’s just the depreciation of value of the car due to the industry’s knowledge of problems in Nissan transmissions, or costly repairs ongoing during ownership, the fact is Nissan passed on that hardship to you. Now a recent class action settlement will automatically bind all current and former owners of the 2015-18 Murano and 2016-18 Maxima to legal limitations that far too many others have found extremely inadequate.
Almost identical to all of its other class settlements, Nissan (with class counsel) is binding all current and former owners of these vehicles to the following terms:
- Expansion of warranty for the transmission up to 84k miles/84 months from date of first sale (meaning an increase of 24k miles/24 months from the original warranty)
- A limited reimbursement program for repairs done previously during that window
- A voucher for those who have gotten 2 or more transmission repairs for $1500 towards the lease or purchase of a Nissan vehicle. A voucher that cannot be combined with a reimbursement for repairs as outlined above.
Only experience issues at 100k miles? You will receive nothing. No repairs documented before you sold the vehicle out of concern of its performance? Nothing. Thousands will be automatically bound to a class settlement they had no say in by default unless they opt out.

We are not the class action firm involved, nor are we trying to start a new one. Stern Law, like it has for tens of thousands of other Nissan clients, will be assisting current and former owners of 2015-18 Murano and 2016-18 Maxima vehicles, regardless of repair count or ownership status, with a no out-of-pocket cost individual claim against Nissan.
